O’s Notes: Frank (sax) leads a brassy septet playing mostly standards with a couple of originals. The music is upbeat with a strong sense of swing that carries through the entire set. They play mostly upbeat tunes but “Central Park West” is a pleasing mid-tempo ballad. We liked the swingers like “Woody’s Whistle”. Tiberi directs the Woody Herman Orchestra and this ensemble is an outtake in some part from that big band, reminiscent of Herman’s Second Herd. The concept works delivering an enjoyable set.
