O’s Notes: Pianist Eugene Marlow leads the Heritage Ensemble, a quintet with Michael Hashim (sax), Frank Wagner (b), Christian Rivera (perc) and drummer Bobby Sanabria. They play jazz with many different influences. A Fresh Take is their third release, a remake of their first recording, Making The Music Our Own but with a different cast. “Adon Olam” is a new addition to the set featuring vocalist Rachael Kara Perez. All of the music comes from the Hebraic songbook and is arranged to appeal to modern jazz audiences.
