O’s Notes: A Moment’s Peace is a relaxed jazz-fusion effort from veteran guitarist John Scofield. He teams up with Larry Goldings (p), Scott Cooley (b) and drummer Brian Blade. The beats are lazy with subtle hints of Country Western on the first couple of tunes before Goldings adds a bit of bounce with the B3 for “Lawns” then mesmerizing us on “Throw It Away” and the cover of “You Don’t Know What Love Is”. They stick to blues and ballads, a surprise for many Scofield fans but he plays with a cool confidence that makes this a worthy effort, especially with the strong, harmonious interplay amongst the band.
