O’s Notes: This new vocal quartet is asserting themselves as the next Manhattan Transfer. The singers are Christy Bluhm (soprano), Christine Fawson (alto & trumpet), Jeremy Ragsdale (tenor) and Tsunenori ‘Lee’ Abe (b). They are backed with a solid rhythm section, horns and guest artists. A cappella, harmonizing, scat accentuated by instrumentation hits the spot. There are 9 songs, mostly new arrangements of popular standards. Their rendition of “Cherokee” shows their full potential. Our assessment: they’ll be on the charts as long as they stay together!
