O’s Notes: Mimi is a formidable jazz bassist and vocalist. She is performing a program of eleven originals plus the traditional finale, “We Shall Overcome”. They open with the fresh air contemporary jazz vibe of “Fast Lane” that sets the stage for an engaging session. Jones follows singing a roots blues track “Watch Your Step”. Mimi’s deep bass notes are prominent throughout the set but not overwhelming. Her music transcends across several genres: blues, jazz and folk. The theme has a fresh warmth that simply feels good. Our favorites are “Silva”, “Close Your Eyes” and the funky “For Granted”. Chill to the instrumentals, get inspired by the vocals or just enjoy Mimi Jones aka Miriam Sullivan.
