O’s Notes: Guitarist Waldorff teams up with super sax player Donny McCaslin, Sam Yahel (p), Matt Clohesy (b) and Jon Wikan (d) for a varied set of nine songs. Torben composed all but three of them starting with “Daze” a burner that sets the pace. There’s a soft country feel to “JWS” before they swing on “Espresso Crescent” and relax on “Heimat”. Yahel sounds good on the dark tones of “Man In The Black Hat” but we preferred the upbeat numbers like “Squealfish”.
