O’s Notes: Laurie spent several years living in Austria, singing, writing and teaching jazz at KUG University. That period serves as the inspiration for much of the material here, a program containing songs about places, people, feelings and nature. She sings in front of a quintet with Matt Clark (p), John Shifflett (b), Jason Lewis (d), Sheldon Brown (sax, cl) and Dave McNab (g). The result is a collection of easygoing tunes that reflect her emotions and experiences, American Dreams. Our favorites are “Samba Nada Brahma” and “Just A Dream”.
