O’s Notes: Amplitudes is a solo guitar effort from John Basile that will delight guitar fans along with music fans across a wide spectrum. He accompanies himself on several tracks with a steel string acoustic guitar but his main axe is a Tom Doyle Custom Jazz model. Basil recreates overplayed standards with strong performances on “My Funny Valentine”, “Moon River” and “Stolen Moments”. We also enjoyed “Fotographia” but honestly, there isn’t a loser in the bunch!
