O’s Notes: Latin guitarist Ricardo Silveira presents a fresh set of ten originals plus collaboration with Milton Nascimento. This is a lively program with the bouncy upbeat title track a shining example of the entire program. Ricardo’s fluid lead guitar is complemented with a rich array of reeds, woodwinds and brass all with a core samba rhythm. This is a formula that works very well. Silveira impressed us with a warmth and dexterity that kept us fully engaged. Highlights are many including “You Can Get What You Want”, “O Canto do Pica-Pau” and the mellow “Pelagic Beira do Mar”. We also liked the festive “Bahia Drive” and the cool “Portal da Cor”. Undoubtedly one of the best of 2010!
