O’s Notes: Detroit saxophonist James Carter shifts gears playing some cool jazz with an organ trio. The band is on fire on the opener “Oh Gee” featuring Gerard Gibbs (B3), Bruce Edwards (g), Leonard King, Jr. (d) and Carter all taking hot solos. They slow down the pace a bit for “My Whole Life Is Through” giving James a chance to display his melodic side. They swing hard on “The Walking Blues” featuring Miche Braden’s vocals. The varied attack and solid performances from the entire crew make this one sizzle.
