O’s Notes: Augmented Reality is a talented trio starring pianist Roy Assaf, drummer Ron Itzik and Peruvian Jorge Roeder on bass. Roy and Ron produced the album and each contributes several original compositions. They are Israelis but connected with Jorge in New York to form the band. The program is mostly jazz-fusion but there are welcome diversions like “Sphere” that contains elements of samba. There also perform a fleeting arrangement of Benny Carter’s “Only Trust Your Heart”. The combination of different cultures coalesces into music that is a solid debut.
