O’s Notes: This fusion of East Asian, Indian and jazz improvisation yields good results. It is music that reflects the experiences of the band members. They experiment with a wide variety of sounds and phrasing that stretches the envelope yet never drifts too far from the listener. Drummer Sunny Jain leads Samita Sinha (vocals), Steve Welsh (sax), Gary Wang (b) and Rez Abbasi (g) through nine original compositions. Among the best is the jazzy calypso “Baraat”, “Wo Xiang Ni”, “Lazaro” and “Meri Bhavana”.
