O’s Notes: Pianist John Proulx does a tribute to Chet Baker, a legend who influenced him greatly. He forms a band with Joe LaBarbera (d), Dominick Farinacci (t) and Chick Berghofer (b). This is an ambitious effort for John who does all of the singing and scatting. His tones are move jovial than Baker’s on “Long And Far Away”. The music is tight and on point for all thirteen tracks, mostly standards. Farinacci brings a rich mellow tone into the mix on several tunes notably “Before You Know It” and “I Remember You”. They don’t quite match Baker’s best but use his influence to create very good music.
