O’s Notes: Guitarist David Becker writes an emotion packed album influenced by the dire experiences of his mother’s family in concentration camps during WWII. While this is sometimes painful, there are also glorious moments. Becker shines on both electric and acoustic guitars especially with his solo on “Selamat Pagi”. “Bali” captures the true spirit of the island with a tropical fusion vibe featuring Al Vescovo on pedal steel guitar. We enjoyed the spirited romp on “Escape To Puntjak” and the peaceful “Batavia Reprise”, a duet with David and Russell Ferrante (p). Becker does a fine job painting the picture and making a solid jazz-fusion album in the process!
