O’s Notes: Guitarist Abbasi plays world music, a jazz-fusion that mirrors the fusion of his life experiences in sound. He was born in Pakistan, grew up as a child in Los Angeles and weaned his musical tastes there and in New York. He studied music at USC and Manhattan School of Music. Bazaar marries the music east and west with positive results. “Mid-Life” is an excellent example with fleeting passages, syncopation and a jazz-fusion feel. The collection provides the listener with a peak inside Abbasi’s world.
