O’s Notes: Pianist Ahmad Jamal is a living legend in the jazz world and Blue Moon is his latest release. The liner notes site it as a masterpiece and indeed it is befitting of that status. Jamal fronts a quartet with bassist Reginald Veal, percussionist Manobo Badrena and Herlin Riley on drums. The pianist is the central figure with six classic covers and three originals that are dynamic and rich with melodies. Jamal’s character remains as strong as ever!
