O’s Notes: Arthur is not a young lion. He’s an old pro playing his sax with lots of feeling and emotion. John Hicks (p), Cecil Brooks (d) and Dwayne Dolphin (b) round out the quartet. Blythe & Hicks also play several duets. Each song tells a story rather than just a collection of well placed notes. Overall, it is a warm and entertaining collection of interpretations of Monk, Coltrane and Strayhorn classics with a few originals.
