O’s Notes: Dan is the son of the legendary, late Dave Brubeck and lesser known but incredibly important Iola Brubeck. Iola supported Dave behind the scenes and frequently wrote lyrics for his music, some of which were rarely used. The Vancouver based Dan Brubeck Quartet focuses on some of these rare gems. Bassist Adam Thomas sings the lyrics imparting a unique twist to the session. Steve Kaldestad (sax) and Tony Foster (p) join drummer Dan on his debut recording as a leader! It is a live, 2-Disc session recorded at Cellar Jazz with all of the intensity of a swinging set!
