O’s Notes: This Japanese duo have recorded and performed together on numerous occasions, both traditional jazz and Avant Garde genres. Chun is more of the latter with Fujii as creative as ever with her compositions. The dynamics and pace hit the extremes and the melodies are very challenging. Both musicians must be focused and attentive to perform with the prescribed precision. We preferred the first half of the session notably “Nudibranch” and the title track. They wrap with “Triangle”, a 21+ minute adventure that covers a lot of territory.
