O’s Notes: This is soft smooth jazz from sax player Mindi Abair who also plays keyboards, percussion and sings for the recording session. She uses a full band with drummer Steve Ferrone and Ricky Peterson (keyboards) for some of the tracks like “New Shoes” and “High Five”. She’s playing with a crying, breathless urgency that defines her character. The best songs have head bobbing beats with some funk thrown in here and there.
