O’s Notes: Bret plays sax and Alex plays guitar sharing writing and production duties on Convergence. They lead a contemporary jazz quartet with Dan Fortin (b) and Karl Schwonik (d). They take a page out of “Giant Steps” on the opener “Momentum” with Goodman showing his prowess. Mah is mellow on “The Persistance of Memory” and “Darn That Dream”, one of three covers on the CD. The mix of mostly original neobop, ballads and fusion make this more than palatable and quite enjoyable.
