O’s Notes: Keyboardist Jeff Babko is not top of mind with the contemporary jazz set but Crux should change that. There is a good mix of mellow, groove and sizzle over nine selections. “Nostalgia Is For Suckas” features bassist Tim Lefebvre lying down a foundation that won’t quit! Jeff also gets support from Trumpeter Mark Isham on several tracks notably “Luna” and drummer Gene Coye on “Angst Pets I”. These are different takes on the ordinary that speak for themselves.
