O’s Notes: George Duke is a legendary contemporary jazz keyboard player who seems to have everlasting life. Déjá Vu is his latest release with all new original tunes that seem as relevant today as during his first hit releases over 25 years ago. This time out Duke employs a star-studded band including Everett Harp (sax), Ronald Bruner, Jr. (d), Hubert Laws (fl), Ray Fuller (g), Paul Jackson, Jr. (g) and Nicholas Payton (t). They play “Stupid Is As Stupid Does”, an upbeat jam and warm ballads like “What Goes Around Comes Around”. “6 O’clock Revisited” is a classic Duke-style tune that is laid back with a groove that will please old and new fans. This is typical of most of the music on the CD. It is perfect for relaxed listening.
