O’s Notes: Guitarist and crooner John Pizzarelli makes a tribute to ‘Old Blue Eyes’ on this release. John takes on a lot stepping into Sinatra’s shadows but he is up to the challenge. The Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra is behind him with dazzling powerful brass dynamics. They open up swinging on “Ring-A-Ding-Ding” to set the pace for ten more of Frank’s best tunes. Among the best of the rest are “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” and “How About You” where Pizzarelli plays to his strengths on guitar and scatting. All of the arrangements are excellent adding to the strength of this CD.
