O’s Notes: Pianist Bob Szajner is a strong musician and composer who perhaps blossomed at the wrong time. He took a hiatus from jazz for ~26 years before returning to add to his legacy in 2007. This recording revisits some of his early genius in a trio with Ray McKinney (b) and Roy Brooks (d). They recorded 27 songs in a marathon session, all first take, no rehearsing to be released on 3 albums in 1978. These are fifteen of those originals that show Szajner firmly rooted Down Beatrice Street in Livonia Michigan. It swings with a little razzle-dazzle thrown in regularly.
