O’s Notes: This is a nice blend of racy fusion with a nice dose of piano from the leader, Sai Ghose and punctuated drumming from Jerry Wilfong. Mike Connors maintains a steady pulse on bass and Sean Berry appears on half of the tracks with big sounds from his sax. It is more of a neobop sound but we placed it on the contemporary side because it is approachable by a wide audience. That certainly does not mean the music is simple. Sai’s compositions are suitably complex for the straight ahead listener but they swing incredibly well! He is worthy of wider recognition.
