O’s Notes: Janel Leppin is a jazz cellist, keyboardist leading a septet with Luke Stewart (b), Kim Sator (harp), Anthony Pirog (g), Larry Ferguson (d)Sarah Hughes (a-sax) and Brian Settles (t-sax). The unusual configuration has a unique sound with creative improvisation. The raging exchange of strings on “She Had Synesthesia” is rocking while “Volcano Song” is mysterious. We also enjoyed the demonstrative “Woven Forest” in this rock-fusion set.
