O’s Notes: Saxophonist Bob Sheppard, pianist David Kikoski, drummer Gary Novak and the late bassist Dave Carpenter formed a quartet that had great chemistry. They flow though the changes allowing each other to stretch out on spontaneous solos in all of the right places. “Bolivia” is an excellent example. This live performance was captured in front of a live audience at The Rising Jazz Stars Studios on May 21, 2006, perhaps the last concert for Carpenter and a fitting commemoration.
