O’s Notes: Heavy Tin is the band, a duo that sounds much larger. Fused Jazz is a blend of bebop, fusion and free jazz. The sound is clean and precise featuring BR. Pearson on piano and Izzy Real playing bass. Their sound is cool, scattered across a dozen fresh tracks. We liked the integration of a solid bass line with free flowing piano on “Midnight Strut” and “Persian Rug”. Other highlights are “Bug Juice”, “Makin’ Yarn” and the Monk-inspired “Manhattan Yellow” and “Circumlocution”. They are worth checking out.
