O’s Notes: Saxophonist Brian Landrus returns to his large ensemble following his trio recording“The Deep Below“(4/3).“Generations“starts with “Jeru Concerto”, a strong, symphonic piece with four movements featuring Landrus weaving his sax throughout the beautiful landscape with lots of contrasting textures. That typifies the music that follows. It is a colorful session that could easily serve as the backdrop for a ballet, poetry or cinema. The liner notes amplify the moods with a snapshot of the composer’s mindset for each selection. Brandee Younger (harp), Mark Feldman (violin), Ralph Alessi (t), Jamie Baum (fl) and Joe Locke (vibes) are a few of the soloists that accentuate the performance. “Arise” and “Every Time I Dream” are also notable.
