O’s Notes: This is happy music, ten songs focused on upbeat themes. The talented band is all strings, the late Joe Kennedy (violin), Paul Langosch (b) and leader Royce Campbell on guitar. It’s easy to enjoy “Pick Yourself Up”, “Smile” and the title track with a great solo from Langosch. They will make you tap your feet, get up and dance and yes even giggle a bit. Joe wrote “Joyous Blues” and he lights it up on this tune. It was his last recording and though his health was already waning at the session he brought a tremendously positive vibe. That spilled over to the band and you can feel it while listening and enjoying Get Happy.
