O’s Notes: Going Places is a swinging contemporary jazz set featuring saxophonist, producer Ray Smith and several other faculty members at Brigham Young University. We enjoyed “Muito Obrigado” (Thank you very much), “Precipice Of Eternity”, “Escarlatta” with a nice b-cl solo by Smith, and “Tchoupitoulas” with vocalist Hayley Kirkland. Yes, indeed there is jazz in Utah beyond the basketball court!
