O’s Notes: Brandi’s upright bass may be larger than she is but she has no problem mastering the instrument. Disterheft is also at ease producing and composing most of the music on Gratitude, a celebration of her friendship and family with David Jahns. Her accompanying musicians are yet another blessing: Renee Rosnes (p), Anne Drummond (fl), Vincent Herring (sax), Sean Jones (t) and Gregory Hutchinson (d). All of the band members take the spotlight during the performance and all glisten. They swing though the upbeat tracks and glide through the ballads like “But Beautiful” with Brandi providing vocals.
