O’s Notes: Smooth jazz sax player Paula Atherton gives us a dozen varied selections, a mix of mostly relaxing chillers and party tunes. The songs are mostly new originals along with a cool cover of Ashford & Simpson’s “You’re All I Need To Get By”. She invites a wealth of supporting musicians including guitarist Chielli Minucci, Onaje Allen Gumbs (p) and producer Lou Gimenez (g). Paula makes it personal singing “Send Down An Angel”, one of several vocal tracks. Other highlights are the funky tribute to James Brown “JB”, “Winds of Change” and “Funk It Up!”
