O’s Notes: April Hall is a singer and Pamela Hines plays piano. Add John Lockwood (b) and Reed Dieffenbach (d, perc) and we have a spirited quartet. They take us through nine songs, both ballads like “A Stone” and swingers like “4 Blues”. Pamela wrote and arranged all of them. We prefer the upbeat numbers but there are sparks of brilliance throughout.
