O’s Notes: Rossi explores his inner universe to create eight energetic and exciting tunes. Lance Van Lenten steps up with a groovin’ sax solo on the opener that set the pace for the set. Bill Urmson (b) plays a calypso beat behind Rossi and Van Lenten (fl) for “Fatwa n Carbondale” that got our heads bobbing – Urmson and drummer Mauricio Zottarelli add vibrant solos as well! The title track combines Latin rhythms and Indian melodies with Geetha Bennett adding vocalese all in 7/4. It works! “Free Speech Zone” is chock full of funky, syncopated beats capped with a hearty dose of fusion courtesy of Bruce Arnold’s guitar solo. This CD has good karma, one of the most enjoyable creative works of the year!
