O’s Notes: Craig puts his signature guitar into Holiday giving a dozen traditional carols a fresh new sound. Ozzie Ahlers (keyboards) and Bill Heller (keyboards, electronics, b, p, organ) are the principal accompanying musicians for this contemporary jazz rendition. The first two tracks are solid and then they experiment a bit. There’s a bluesy version of “Jingle Bells” and Craig goes for a twangy approach on most of the rest. We go back to the first 2 tracks: “Angels We Have Heard On High” and “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” for the best of the set.
