O’s Notes: Singer and guitarist Hope Waits has a sultry, gutsy voice that flows in and around the music. The music is a lazy New Orleans blues on “I’ll Be Satisfied”. Dave Marsh adds a singing clarinet in front of the brass on “Yesterdays” which really sets the smoky mood. Hope’s groove is along the lines of Norah Jones: sexy, jazzy blues. That can be explained by guitarist/composer/producer Peter Malick who also worked with Jones early in her career. Waits is rapidly defining her space and could be around for a while.
