O’s Notes: Margie is singing happy songs in front of a polished and powerful band that makes her debut sizzle. Kevin Art (b) and producer Kevin Winard (d, perc, vocals) anchor the bottom while Quinn Johnson (p), Christian Jacob (p), Stephen Geyer (g) and Matt Catingub (sax) fill in the rhythms and add superb solos. “I Love The Way You’re Breaking My Heart” is a fine example of the balance between Margie and the band works well. They swing slowly on “If You Never Come To Me” and bounce along happily on “Ain’t Nobody’s Business But My Own”, with Winard joining in on the vocals with Nelson. Margie shines on “Don’t Go To Strangers” shadowed by Cattingub’s warm sax. Lots of variety with fresh arrangements and sizzling music make this debut one to put in the cart! You’ll enjoy it.
