O’s Notes: McGarry sings a variety of ballads on If Less Is MoreÉ She opens with the mysterious romance of “Let’s Face the Music”. “You’re My Thrill” features Kate singing improvisational blues against a cool jazz backdrop with Gary Versace making his organ chirp. McGarry shows her versatility singing “Caminhos Cruzados” in Portuguese with Gary switching to accordion and Keith Ganz shadowing on guitar to give this one a natural Latin feel. They return to bossa nova on “Flor de Lis”, another winner. Jo Lawry joins Kate singing “I Carry Your Heart” with subtle country undertones and warm harmony. This is a good session.
