O’s Notes: Pianist Bill O’Connell leads a polished ensemble with Steve Slagle (sax), Conrad Herwig (tb), Luques Curtis (b), Richie Flores (perc) and Richie Barshay (d). They are called the Latin Jazz All-Stars but the music is more modern jazz with an occasional Latin twist as on “Willow Weep For Me”. O’Connell contributes seven originals with two classic covers. “Shaman’s Dance”, “Jigsaw” and “25 Years” are a few of the gems that make Imagine a winning set.
