O’s Notes: Bob Mamet (p) leads a trio with Darek Oles (b), and Joe La BarBera. All are fine accomplished musicians that come together as a seamless team. This is immediately recognizable on the opening title track. The music is all originals by Mamet performed in a swinging mood that is vibrant and jovial. The playful mood on “Venice Waltz” and “At Play” makes it easy to engage. We also enjoyed “Bob’s Blues” and the gentle flow of “Illinois Road” lead by Bob’s pronounced tickling of the ivory. This is a strong set that is palatable to a large audience.
