O’s Notes: This session was recorded for the German TV Show Ohne Filter during 1990 but it still feels good today. Sarah sings popular music with a lot of soul influence. Her voice is deep and full with hints of Chaka Kahn. It is surprising to hear such volume coming out of her small frame. She takes us into jazz space with “Afraid Of The Dark” backed by a tight band. This is followed by a strong performance of “Ain’t No Turning Back” and “Me & Mrs. Jones”. It’s a good look at her early years.
