O’s Notes: Jazz bassist Kyle Eastwood is based in the UK and stepped out of his dad’s shadow long ago.“In Transit“is his eighth album as a leader and Eastwood displays poise and prowess on both electric and acoustic bass. The band is Andrew McCormack (p), Quentin Collins (t), Brandon Allen (t-sax) and Chris Higginbottom (d). Stefano Di Battista (a-sax, s-sax) makes a guest appearance on four selections notably “Night Flight”. The music is a good mix of old and new that reaches both contemporary and traditional audiences. Kyle stretches out on “Movin’” and allows his team to grab the spotlight over ten hot tracks.
