O’s Notes: Skybell sings and plays piano with a talented band including guitarist Sam Walker, Pete Brewer (sax) and Roy Snodgrass (d). She’s got a slight nasal character with lots of charm in her signature. There are eleven songs written by Melani except two covers. “Days Like This” has hints of bossa nova coming from Sam’s picking and strumming. All of the music has a pleasant feel. We liked “Got You On My Mind” and “The First Time” among a well-balanced set.
