O’s Notes: B“is drummer, producer and composer Brandon Goodwin. B’s Bees are Goodwins’s band with composer/pianist Joe Ferracuti, Alec Saft on bass and guitarist Julien Sandiford. Special guest, saxophonist Masashi Usui fits in seamlessly. The album is divided into Goodwin’s 4-part Kanata Suite and four originals; three written by Ferracuti and one from Sandiford. Part 2 moves us from Kanata’s swinging groove to more of a Monk feel. There’s nice guitar work by Sandiford on “Syrian Lullaby”, “For Or Against” and “Pipeline Blues”. Usui makes his presence known on “Liberté” and “Atomic Future” features both Ferracuti and Sandiford.
