O’s Notes: The CD cover gives us a true perspective of what is inside as Helge is wrapped inside of his piano. Kattenslager is a misinterpretation of Plattenslager (pop record) that Lien heard as a child in Norway. It stuck with him and resurfaces as the title for his first solo effort. Away from his trio, Helge has ultimate freedom to express himself without boundaries. These nine tracks of pure piano improvisation touch a variety of moods from subtle chaos to peaceful passion. All of it is from within and certain to appeal to fans of the trio.
