O’s Notes: Veteran jazz guitarist Bobby Broom gained the respect of many jazz pianists notably James Williams early in his career. That has led to many successful outings in guitar/piano ensembles. Keyed Up is his latest in a quartet with Justin Dillard (p, B3), Dennis Carroll (b) and co-producer, Kobe Watkins (d). This is an upbeat bop set that sizzles end to end highlighted by “Quicksilver”, “Humpty Dumpty” and “Scoochie” pausing to inject fine ballads like “Misty” and “Soulful Bill”.
