O’s Notes: Pat has become a living legend on the contemporary jazz scene. His latest release is Kin and it is a formidable listening experience. The Unity Group is a quintet with Chris Potter (sax, cl, fl), Antonio Sanchez (d): Ben Williams (b), Giuilio Carmassi (p, t, tb, vibes, vocals) and Metheny (g, synths). They play a total of 30 instruments but never overwhelm the listener. The guitarist has recreated his sound while remaining true to himself and longstanding fans. We got caught up in the swirl and were hooked!
