O’s Notes: Ellynne has a warm voice that is easy to embrace on songs like “Midnight Shades Of Blue”. She wrote all or parts of the ten compositions here and each contains an element of her life in some way. She works well with her band especially Steve Moran (sax) who not only shadows Plotnick but also carries the melody and solos on several occasions. We also liked Dan Furman’s work on piano notably on “As Rare As You”. We applauded Ellynne for this CD, a collection of her own work that flows as well as or even better than a collection of standards. Good job!
